Keeping wealth in Montana

From the Montana Community Foundation

Over the next 10 years, Montanans will transfer billions of dollars to the next generation. It’s estimated that by 2020, $12 billion will pass from one generation to the next. The question is whether any of that wealth will stay behind in the communities that helped build it.

If only a small portion of this wealth—say 5%—was protected in permanent charitable endowments, millions of dollars would be available each year to invest in Montana communities and the charities that make them the places we love to call home.

We are proud to present this inspiring report to the people of Montana. Using the most recent data and an improved methodology, the updated study shows the incredible potential to build and sustain Montana communities.
